Cadet Program Special Opportunities
Training
Youth that are inducted into the Cadet Program will learn advanced leadership, equipment and instruction skills. The Cadets have instructed and presented at some of Minnesota's premiere sporting events, including the Northwest Sportshow, Gamefair, Cabelas/SCI YES Youth Event, Minnesota SCI Banquet, NWTF Jakes Event and many others. The cadet Program also provides equipment and instructors for Washington and Dakota Counties aa well as the city of Oakdale Parks and Recreation during the summer. The discipline, skill and commitment to service shown by the Cadet Program's youth mentor group earn them some very unique opportunities to show their skills of instruction and knowledge of archery/bowhunting.
Hunting
Youth in the Cadet Program have the priviledge to participate in many advanced hunting opportunities that normal club members cannot. These advanced hunting opportunities not only allow youth in the Cadet Program to have fun, these opoortunities are used to teach advanced hunting techniques. The opportunities available to youth in the Cadet Program are:
- Extended bowhunting for whitetails each fall.
- Summer bowfishing opportunities.
- Spring archery turkey hunting.
- Winter archery rabbit hunting.
Employment
The Cadet Program is tapped by many organizations to provide instruction and equipment for summer archery courses and archery events. The youth participating in the Cadet Program can apply for positions as instructors for these employment opportunities. These youth must show exemplary skills in group management, range management, conflict resolution, equipment maintenance and skill/patience with learners new to archery.
